Methuen's Anthony Romano (pictured above) is one of the new Kings as of results reported through Feb. 18, 2020. Tons Of Movement Among Kings After Sectionals

Methuen’s Anthony Romano is one of the new Kings as of results reported through Feb. 18, 2020.

Below is our third MVC Kings of the Ring rankings of the 2019-20 season. And thanks to a ton of impressive performances and some surprising weight shifts during the state sectionals, we have plenty of movement in this new rankings.

There are two new weight class champs, Jimmy Glynn of Central Catholic at 106 and Anthony Romano of Methuen at 182. Romano’s jump comes courtesy of a second-place finish in the D1 North Sectionals (and we’ll take a bow, as we were the first to have Romano listed in any rankings).

Two previous champs jumped to different weight classes in the sectionals. CCHS’ Owen Buffagna jumped from 182 to 195 and did not finish top four in D2 North. Eric Sanchez of Lawrence jumped from 195 to 220 and won the D1 North sectional, but it’s not enough to displace fellow sectional champ and undefeated Anthony Sears of CCHS.

We appreciate all the input over the last few week and made corrections immediately where warranted (the beauty of the Internet).

We have been tracking results since Day 1, including duals and tournaments. But we’re not perfect.

Rankings factor in overall record, head-to-head and wrestler rankings from

Breaking it down by school, it is fairly representative of how the team rankings are playing out. Andover has the most wrestlers with seven. Tewksbury, Chelmsford and Central Catholic all five wrestlers, while Lawrence, Haverhill and Dracut have three apiece. North Andover has three wrestlers, Methuen and Lowell have two each and Billerica has one wrestler.
