The Tewksbury running back and linebacker had a game for the ages in the Division 3 North final.
“Next man up” was a Brian Aylward thing long before it was a New England Patriots catchphrase.
The Tewksbury Redmen have become masters of overcoming injuries and depleted corps and that has never been on greater display than this year with the extended absence of star Shane Aylward.
One of the biggest players to step up has been running back and defensive star Kyle Darrigo. He has been a stat monster this fall, but this past Saturday, it was one play in particular that you will never truly see in a box score that helped define the Redmen 2019 run.
Faced with the second straight week of needing to stop a two-point conversion try to keep their postseason alive, Darrigo was the lead tackler in to stop Winchester at the half-yard line and carry Tewksbury on to the next step in the Division 3 state playoffs.
Darrigo took some time out to talk to the crew from “MVC Gridiron Weekly” on Sunday, Nov. 17.
